Noah's Ark
This has been established since 1987 and is led by Claire Nainby, a qualified teacher. We have a ratio of at least 1 adult to 6 children during each session, 2 of whom are fully qualified (Diploma in Pre-school practice or NNEB). Training is ongoing and staff attend relevant courses and seminars.
Our aim
Our aim is to provide a safe and secure environment, which stimulates the children into being enthusiastic and autonomous learners; where there is a chance for each child to become independent, confident and happy, ready for their next stage in life. By being in a loving, Christian environment, in which each child is cared for as an individual with his/her needs, we hope to teach, by example, the children to care for each other and respect each other and the world about us.
Who can come?
The pre-school is open to children from 2 years and 6 months up until they start school. Although we are a church pre-school, it is not necessary for your family to have any previous connection with us or any other church. We are able to accept children who are not completely toilet trained. Also welcome are children with special needs. This would, of course, need to be discussed with Claire beforehand.
Where does Noah's Ark meet?
We meet on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Fridays mornings from 9:30am - 12:15pm, during the school terms. We are open 34 weeks each year. You may apply for your child to attend for 1 or 2 mornings if they are under 3 years old, increasing up to 4 mornings per week when there is space if you wish.
What activities are there?
Activities include free playtime, creative and physical activities, story and singing times. because the pre-school is part of the church, bible stories and Christian songs are part of the programme.
Keyworkers
We operate a Keyworkers System, which means that each member of staff has a small group of children they particularly keep an eye on and monitor their well-being.
