The Parent & Toddlers
What is it and what does it do?
The Parent & Toddlers group runs on Tuesday morning from 9:30 - 11:45, during the Noah's Ark pre-school term time. It is run by Caterham Community Church for the local community and was started about 25 years ago. It seeks to provide a friendly environment for people with young children to meet, and a safe play area for their children to enjoy playing with others of their age.
Who is it for?
As well as mothers, we have grandparents, carers and the occasional father bringing their children along. The ages of the children range from birth to school age, with many of them gaining places at Noah's Ark when they reach 2 1/2-3 years old. The parent/carer stays with, and is responsible for, their children. There is no charge, just a small contribution towards refreshments.
Parent & Toddler uses the facilities of Noah's Ark and some of their equipment, such as the climbing frame and- slide, bikes and trikes etc. The group provides it's own baby and toddler toys, a painting and playdough table, a sticking activity, home corner, books and toys. For the last 1/4 of the morning there is a 'circle time' with musical instruments and singing of nursery rhymes and jingles.
