What to expect
We do understand that coming to us for the first time might be a bit daunting. To make it easier we have tried to provide you with some idea of what to expect. If you are still nervous then please contact our church office on 01883 330162 and we can arrange for someone to meet you and show you around.
The place we use for Sunday mornings is approached through the car park and the building is on the left. When you get inside, some-one will greet you and usually offer you a copy of the weekly bulletin. Occasionally there may be other leaflets as well.
The service
Our morning meetings last about 90 minutes. Children are encouraged to stay with their parents for the first two songs and then there are activities for them to get involved in before going to their groups at approx 11am. There is always an opportunity to receive prayer from our ministry team and coffee/tea is provided before the service starts and again from around 12 noon. Evening services are more flexible and last between 60 and 90 minutes and are held in our church once a month and start at 7pm. If you need to leave during a service, no-one will mind if you slip out quietly.
Please feel free to sit wherever you want to (as long as no-one is already sitting there!). We leave you to decide where you find it most comfortable. You can remain seated throughout the service if you wish and you are under no obligation to join in any of the singing (some/all of the songs we use may not be known to you). We use a multimedia system to project the songs onto the screen so they should be easy to read - if you find someone's head in the way please feel free to move to where you can see better.
If you bring any children along they can sit with you, or if quite young there is a crèche area at the back where they can play quietly (toys provided) and you can be with other parents, yet still be part of what is going on. Children leave for their own activities after 11am and yours can join them or stay with you - if they don't want to go no-one will force them.
We don't expect you to contribute to the work of the church (that's our responsibility) so don't feel embarrassed to let the collection pass you by without putting anything in. Many church members contribute directly through their bank accounts so you won't be the only one not contributing.
You will find the message biblical and relevant to living in the 21st century. We try and avoid using jargon and aim to make the teaching easy to understand and remember.
We look forward to seeing you! If there is anything you can suggest as to how we can improve things then please let us know. |
